Health and Safety

Health and Safety is of paramount importance to Shades and has since 2007 have worked toward attaining accreditation of SafeContractor (via Britannia Assurance) which we gained on 3rd June 2008. Safety of Shades employees, clients and the public is an important matter so making sure we understand and implement our responsibilities via a full suite of documents in our Health and Safety Manual (procedures, risk assessments, method studies and COSHH assessments) for work undertaken by us.

Shades is acutely aware that these days clients have their own responsibilities under Health and Safety Law and we are happy to work under the requirements set by you, in contract or informally such as permits for work and site specific works for larger organisations. Shades are happy to work under the supervision of Health and Safety professionals in companies or contracted by the client and are happy if contracted to provide copies of our Health and Safety documentation for your consideration.

Shades will operate a policy that actively seeks to lower its operational impact on the environment year on year. The Directors, Managers and Staff will consider any environmental initiatives whenever it is practicable to implement them if they are compliant with the Law. Shades shall during its operations adhere to any environmental standards, systems and requirements imposed by any Contract whilst on customer’s premises in their employ.

Quality Assurance

Shades have spent the last year working hard towards ISO 9001:2008 accreditation which was achieved in March 2009 (Certificate FS 539876) directly through The British Standards Institute. The Quality of products and services has always been important to Shades of Comfort in building up our business, mainly from recommendation - so it was crucial to back this up by making sure that the Company itself had document systems, processes and procedures fully documented with an ethos of continual improvement and customer satisfaction ingrained in everything we do.

Mr. Tony Peters Sales and Marketing Director said about ISO 9001:2008 “this is a magnificent achievement for Shades of Comfort, everyone here at Shades of Comfort has signed into quality as an objective for our business - the way we conduct ourselves and how our customers view us”. “Shades of Comfort set out on this path of company development more than a year ago and I would say this is part of an ongoing process to improve customer satisfaction”. “I believe Shades of Comfort is now in a position to firstly survive the current economic downturn and are in good position to be able to grow when the financial situation improves”. “We have already had encouragement from large organisations since we have gained ISO 9001:2008 having already enabled us to supply a County Council and our first school with “Sail Shades” this being The Croft Primary School in Stroud” .
